It's only February, but New Orleans Saints quarterback Tyler Shough's offseason is about to change in a major way.
Shough had an impressive rookie season with the Saints, completing 67.6% of his passes for 2,384 yards with 10 touchdowns and six interceptions. The second-round pick from Louisville's accomplishments didn't go unnoticed. Earlier this month, he was voted the Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year.
"I am truly humbled and honored to be chosen for this award," said Shough. "Coming in as a rookie, my goal was to do anything I could to contribute to our team's success. Whatever I was asked to do, I just wanted to help the team. This wouldn't be possible without all of my teammates and coaches giving everything they had each and every week to help us win. The award is truly a reflection of all of their hard work. I also want to say thank you to our amazing fans. Your unbelievable passion for the Saints and the city of New Orleans inspires all of us! I can't wait to see where we go from here!"
Roughly two weeks after winning Pepsi Zero Sugar NFL Rookie of the Year, Shough revealed that he and his wife Jordan have welcomed their first child into the world.
"Grayson Dubois Shough," the happy couple wrote on instagram. "The best thing we have ever done."
Immediately after Jordan and Tyler announced the birth of their son, countless former and current Saints players sent them kind messages.
"Congrats to the family," the official account for the Saints commented.
"Dubois....da boys major blessings," Saints star Cam Jordan wrote.
"Congrats brotha," former Saints wide receiver Rashid Shaheed said.
"Congrats my guy," Saints rookie Kelvin Banks added.
Year 2 outlook for Tyler Shough.
The Saints went 5-4 with Shough as the starter this past season. If he builds off that success, they could potentially do damage in the NFC South in 2026.
"Tyler's done an awesome job through this entire process. He's gotten a ton better. He's taken advantage of a bunch of opportunities," Saints head coach Kellen Moore said. "We're excited to have a full offseason to build."
Time will tell if Shough can lead the Saints to the playoffs for the first time since 2020.
