Barcelona could complete the permanent signing of Manchester United forward Marcus Rashford this summer for a mere £26 million.
After falling out of favour at Manchester United under Ruben Amorim, Marcus Rashford was sent on loan for a second time in one year, joining Barcelona for the 2025/26 campaign.
Rashford hasn’t played for United since December 2024. It remains to be seen if he will ever wear the Red shirt in another competitive game.
The England international spent the second half of last season on loan at Aston Villa in the Premier League, where he earned a move to Barcelona.

With nothing confirmed for Rashford beyond this season, he has made it no secret that he intends to stay at Camp Nou.
Rashford is currently out injured and needs to get himself back fit to help Hansi Flick’s side finish the season strongly, especially if he is to prove himself over the course of the campaign.

The two loan moves have certainly helped the 28-year-old get back to his best form, even if he has been unable to seal a spot in Flick’s preferred starting line-up.
Still, Rashford has an important role in the Barcelona side. Flick has been complimentary of his efforts and performances since he joined the La Liga club earlier this season.
According to the Daily Star, United chiefs are regretting their decision to sell Rashford to Barcelona for £26 million.
United issued Barcelona the first option to sign Rashford for no more than £26m when the loan deal ends, but now members of the hierarchy are understood to be frustrated by the terms and would prefer to strike a deal with another club.
However, it has been reported that Barcelona want a cheaper deal for Rashford, but United will not entertain such proposals.
The report adds that United co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe is keen to sell Rashford to get the England star off the club’s payroll.

Comparing Mark Hughes’ first season at Barcelona to Marcus Rashford
Mark Hughes left United for Barcelona in August 1986.
The transfer was agreed in March, but Hughes would wait until the summer of that year to complete the move.
Hughes was signed by Terry Venables but struggled to adapt, scoring just five goals in his first season before being sent on loan to Bayern Munich.
Rashford has thus far scored double that amount in his first season, along with 13 registered assists.
