The Golden State Warriors have been trying to figure out a way to navigate the loss of Jimmy Butler. Butler is out for the season after tearing his ACL. That has left Stephen Curry to bear the load of the offense in Golden State.
Coming out of the All-Star break, the Warriors sit eighth in the Western Conference standings. They now have to deal with an injury to Stephen Curry, as he has a knee injury. Golden State has characterized it as Runner’s Knee, which just takes time to heal.
Yet, Steve Kerr gave a concerning update on his knee after a week of him supposedly being able to heal it.

Warriors Give Concerning Update on Steph Curry
Kerr mentioned that it’s possible Curry has to undergo another MRI on his knee to determine how much time he will miss. Curry tried to go through a full workout, but knew something wasn’t right with his knee. Imaging might be needed to determine a timeline of games he will miss.
Golden State is still waiting on Kristaps Porzingis to make his debut with the team. If Curry is going to miss an extended period of time, they are going to need multiple players to step up to make up for the lost offense. Golden State is already deeply average on offense.
At the All-Star break, the Warriors own the 15th-best offense in the league. Without Curry, they will fall to a below-average offense. This season, Curry has already missed 16 games this season. The Warriors hold a 6-10 record without Curry in the lineup.
Without Butler in the lineup, the Warriors are likely out of the running to win the Western Conference. They will likely end up participating in the play-in. Unless Curry goes nuclear on offense, it’s unlikely they will have a shot to usurp the Thunder in the West.

The Warriors will try to Make Big Moves in the Offseason
Golden State tried to land Giannis Antetokounmpo at the trade deadline. Questions remain whether or not the Bucks were ever serious about trading him, but he stayed in Milwaukee. This summer, the Warriors will likely make another run at him.
If they aren’t able to land Antetokounmpo, Golden State will try to make a run at other superstar players. They are desperate to keep the title window open with Curry still on the roster. He is still playing at an elite level, but that won’t last forever.
LeBron James could be someone the Warriors pursue in the offseason if James declines his player option for next season. He could decide to become a free agent if he chooses, and teaming up with Curry would give him one last shot at winning a championship.
Golden State will likely pursue trade scenarios in order to improve the team next season instead of pursuing free agents. Curry’s ability to stay healthy is starting to wane, so they need to capitalize on his skills before he starts to decline.
