“Rashee Rice continued to repeatedly (assault) Dacoda Jones over the course of their relationship,” the lawsuit alleges.

The mother of two children with Rice, Jones said most of the physical abuse happened while she was pregnant. She said the abuse left her “bleeding, swelling, bruising and other pain” along with physical injuries to her “neck, face, mouth, arms, legs, chest and shoulder.”

Jones also alleges “other violent and abusive behaviours” from Rice, such as punching walls, breaking furniture, and throwing things at her. Jones is seeking more than $1 million, according to the lawsuit.

Chiefs aware of allegations

In a statement, the Kansas City Chiefs said the team is aware of the allegations made against Rice.

“The club is aware & remains in communication with the National Football League,” the team said, per ESPN writer Nate Taylor.

In a December Instagram post, Jones claimed she had “dealt with abuse for years,” noting life has been “nothing but hell” since the breakup between “me and this man.”

The post also showed pictures of bruises and scratches on Jones’ body and face. She said she’s tired of protecting “his” image and that “it’s time to protect my peace, protect my children and stand up for myself.”

Jones doesn’t name her alleged abuser in the post, which, like her Instagram account, has since been deleted, per the New York Post.

Since the allegations were made public, the NFL has launched an investigation into Rice for potential violation of its Personal Conduct Policy. The case is still active, the Post reported.
