Kylie backed Olympic gold medalist Breezy Johnson and her fiancé Connor Watkins during a February 2026 episode of the “Not Gonna Lie podcast”. She dismissed claims that Watkins stole Johnson’s spotlight with a finish-line proposal at the Milan Cortina Winter Olympics.
“I feel very strongly about the fact that people who are trolls and want to be like, ‘boo hoo, that shouldn’t have happened,’ is crazy, because what an incredible time,” Kylie said.
The controversy began after the proposal on February 12, 2026. Johnson had competed in the women’s super-G in Cortina d’Ampezzo, Italy. She crashed during the race and did not finish. Watkins proposed to her at the base of the run in the finish area. He presented a sapphire engagement ring. The wooden box had the Taylor Swift lyric “Honestly, who are we to fight the alchemy” carved on it.
Johnson won gold in the women’s downhill event on February 8, 2026. It was Team USA’s first medal at the Games.
Fansmostly celebrated the moment. But some online critics said the proposal took attention away from her success in the downhill. Johnson appeared on the podcast to set the record straight.

“I just thought it would be really fun to bring the two loves of my life together,” Johnson said. She reminded critics that she had already secured her spotlight. “You clearly didn’t pay attention. I won the downhill three days ago,” she said.

Taylor Swift later congratulated the couple on Instagram. She wrote “CONGRATULATIONS!!!” and quoted another line, “Where’s the trophy? He just comes running over to me.”
