Agreement close - Liverpool close to signing Brazlian for a third of £86m release clause

Liverpool are reportedly progressing towards a summer move to sign Palmeiras midfielder Allan, with the Reds now close to agreeing on terms with the Brazilian outfit.

While Florian Wirtz and Hugo Ekitike are working wonders together in attack, with Mo Salah now rediscovering his old form, Liverpool’s midfield remains something of a mess.

It might have something to do with Dominik Szoboszlai being shoe-horned into right back every other week, but there is certainly a balance issue in the Liverpool engine room.

Ryan Gravenberch seems burnt out, Alexis Mac Allister has only recently found his energy and influence, while Curtis Jones is lucky to get minutes under Arne Slot.

Allan seems like an intriguing link, and reports from Brazil now suggest a move to Anfield this summer is on the cards. He would make for a fantastic cover for whoever Liverpool deem ready to replace Salah, with Olise mooted as a target.

Liverpool move to sign Allan progressing with agreement with Palmeiras on terms close

According to local Brazilian outlets, Liverpool and Palmeiras are close to reaching an agreement on terms. The two clubs are not far apart on how they want the deal to structured.

While I wrote on Wednesday that Liverpool should move quickly to avoid lengthy delays over the summer due to the FIFA World Cup in the Americas, it seems the Reds agree, although the timing of the transfer is different from what many expect.

Liverpool prefer to sign Allan only after the Club World Cup at the end of the year, which would mean he’d be a 2027 January transfer window addition.

Palmeiras want €35m (£30m), including performance-related bonuses, to sanction an exit for Allan. While nothing has been finalised or agreed on, there seems to be a willingness from both parties to get a deal done.

Allan has a contract until 2029, which includes a release clause worth nearly €100m (£86m), but Palmeiras will let him leave for significantly less.
