Some world-class talents have worn the Liverpool shirt — Luis Suarez and Mohamed Salah are right at the top of the list.
The two elite forwards had vastly different careers.
Suarez set the Premier League alight at Liverpool for four seasons before making the move to Barcelona.
Salah, on the other hand, stayed far longer and has won everything there is to win across almost nine seasons at Anfield.
Pick one player you’d re-sign – Luis Diaz or Trent Alexander-Arnold?
But the peak of Suarez is unlike anything we have seen, and his legacy has stood the test of time, rated the best to do it in the English top flight in the past 15 years.
Luis Suarez the highest-rated PL player since 2010
According to WhoScored, no Premier League player has been better than Suarez since their ratings began.
His average match rating of 7.87 is the best in class, and that’s over his 110 league games for Liverpool. He scored 69 times and with 23 assists, and boasts one of the all-time great goal catalogues.

Salah has played far more games — 319 at time of writing — with 190 goals and 93 assists, putting him amongst the very best PL legends.
His average match rating is 7.34. Of course, the number of games played offers some explanation of the difference, but not the only one.
Suarez pips Salah due to more than just sample size
If we’re being truthful, the Uruguayan might be the most gifted footballer ever to play for Liverpool.
He doesn’t come close to Salah in terms of legend status, obviously, but that’s simply because he wasn’t around long enough.
Him being the highest rated is not down to sample size alone. He was just head and shoulders above the rest during his Liverpool peak.
PROVE ME WRONG: Hugo Ekitike WILL have a better Liverpool career than Luis Suarez

With Salah’s Liverpool career possibly concluding this season, now is not the time to diminish his achievements during some historic prime years. That’s not the point here.
The point is, Suarez was just that good.
