Victor Wembanyama is expected to sign a five-year, $252 million maximum extension with the San Antonio Spurs this summer, according to ESPN's Bobby Marks.

Marks notes that there will be little negotiation on Wembanyama's next contract. On or after July 6, the Spurs and their franchise star are projected to agree to the five-year deal.
The contract will include incentives for All-NBA honors, Defensive Player of the Year, and MVP awards.
If Wemby meets these criteria in the 2026-27 season, the deal could rise to $303.3 million.
Because he was ineligible for league honors in 2024-25, he cannot earn 30% of the salary cap in Year 1 of the extension, even if he achieves the criteria this season.

This year, Wembanyama earned his second All-Star selection and his first as a starter.
The Frenchman has helped lead the Spurs to a 38-16 record, second in the Western Conference, while averaging a career-high 24.4 points, 11.1 rebounds, 2.8 assists, and 2.7 blocks in 29 minutes per game over 40 games.
He is also shooting a career-best 51.1% from the field and 36.3% from three-point range.
The 2024 Rookie of the Year is the only player in the NBA averaging 20-plus points, 10-plus rebounds, and at least two blocks per game.
