Sacramento Kings forwards Keegan Murray and DeMar DeRozan share their thoughts on victory against the Minnesota Timberwolves on Nov. 24, 2025. By HECTOR AMEZCUA
Keegan Murray will suit up for the first time in almost six weeks when the Sacramento Kings return from the NBA All-Star break to host the Orlando Magic on Thursday at Golden 1 Center.
Unfortunately, though, this could be the night the Kings set a dubious record for futility.
The Kings have already tied the record for the longest losing streak in franchise history with 14 consecutive losses. They now have a chance to break a record that is shared by the 1959-60 and 1971-72 Cincinnati Royals.
The Kings (12-44) haven’t won a game since Jan. 16. They will continue to lean into their recent youth movement after announcing that Zach LaVine (finger) and Domantas Sabonis (knee) underwent season-ending surgical procedures on Wednesday.
The Magic (28-25) is seventh in the Eastern Conference, 1 ½ games behind the Philadelphia 76ers for the final automatic playoff berth. Franz Wagner, the team’s second-leading scorer, has been ruled out for Thursday’s game due to left ankle sprain injury management.
Murray has missed the past 20 games after spraining his left ankle in a Jan. 4 loss to the Milwaukee Bucks. He was a full participant in Wednesday’s practice and is not listed on the team’s injury report for Thursday’s game.
Murray has appeared in 19 games this season, averaging 14.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, 1.6 blocks and 1.2 steals. Murray could be featured as a primary scoring option over the final 26 games as the Kings build for the future, but he might come off the bench against Orlando based on how coach Doug Christie has handled extended injury absences this season.
