The Cleveland Browns have emerged as a potential landing spot for Philadelphia Eagles receiver A.J. Brown.

Brown remains one of the league’s most accomplished pass catchers, totaling 8,029 receiving yards and 56 touchdowns over his seven-year career. His peak production came in Philadelphia, where he posted back-to-back 1,400-yard seasons in 2022 and 2023 and firmly established himself as one of the NFL’s elite receivers.

While Brown’s numbers have dipped slightly in recent seasons, he has still surpassed the 1,000-yard mark and continues to command defensive attention. At the same time, persistent speculation about his long-term future in Philadelphia has fueled trade chatter, particularly after Brown publicly expressed frustration on multiple occasions.

Fowler: Brown Would be ‘Immediate Upgrade’ for Cleveland Offense

The latest proposal comes from Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, who suggested Cleveland could part with its late first-round pick to land the veteran receiver.

“They could use No. 6 on an offensive lineman and send No. 24 to the Eagles in exchange for Brown,” Fowler said. “This would immediately upgrade new head coach Todd Monken’s offense, giving the passing game a fighting chance alongside an already stout defense. Cleveland’s wide receiver room totaled just 1,467 receiving yards in 2025, worst in the NFL.”

Fowler also pointed to Cleveland’s front-office ties and history of aggressive moves at the position. Browns general manager Andrew Berry, a former Eagles executive, has an established relationship with Philadelphia GM Howie Roseman and has not been shy about pursuing impact receivers.

“Cleveland has a penchant for the splash receiver trade, acquiring Odell Beckham Jr., Amari Cooper, and Jerry Jeudy during Berry’s tenure,” Fowler said. “All three players posted 1,000-yard seasons in Year 1 with the Browns.”

Eagles Shut Down AJ Brown Trade Talk

One potential — and significant — hurdle in getting a trade done is that the Eagles do not sound too compelled to part ways with Brown

“It is hard to find great players in the NFL, and A.J. is a great player,” Roseman said. “I think from my perspective, that’s what we’re going out and looking for when we go out here in free agency, in the draft, just trying to find great players who love football, and he’s that guy.”

The Browns have some work to do as they look to reshape their offense under head coach Todd Monken, who was hired for his offensive pedigree.

“There’s a reason why I was hired here,” Monken said. “Let’s not kid ourselves. I was hired to become elite on offense and that’s what we’re going to fight every day to be, and I’m fired up because I think we have a chance to really take off. I think the time is right now to take off and really build it the way you want, so you’re consistently competing for championships.”

While adding weapons will be a focus this offseason, Monken and his staff also have to solidify the quarterback position. Shedeur Sanders, Deshaun Watson and Dillon Gabriel are all under contract heading into next season. The Browns are also expected to add another passer to the mix.
