Opinion: Why Liam Delap should choose Everton over other clubs this summer, amid Chelsea exit…

Everton are said to be showing interest in Liam Delap, and the striker should give serious consideration to joining the Toffees.

Everton are monitoring Delap at the moment, with the striker’s future seemingly in some doubt.

The 23-year-old has scored just three goals in 30 appearances so far, and apparently there is a possibility that he could leave after just one season.

Winter window now shut, what striker do you want signed in the summer for Everton? 💥

No excuses can be made when the window opens again 😫

A loan exit for Delap is more likely than a permanent exit, although that cannot be totally ruled out.

Everton are in the mix, but so are other Premier League clubs such as Manchester United, Newcastle United, Brighton, and Sunderland.

There are some good options there, but Delap surely has to strongly consider Everton as it could be the best possible move for him right now.

Some Everton fans are against the signing of Delap after he decided not to make the move last summer.

Everton were one of a plethora of clubs interested, but it was Chelsea who won out.

Seemingly he thought he would be the number one striker. Chelsea then went and signed Joao Pedro, and Delap therefore hasn’t always started games, potentially disrupting his rhythm.

This would be much less of a problem at Everton, because he would surely lead the line regularly if he signed.

We know David Moyes loves a bit of physicality, and that forms a big part of Delap’s game.

And the supporters always love this, having previously embraced the likes of Duncan Ferguson, Romelu Lukaku and Marouane Fellaini.

Everton fans can get behind a physical striker, and they also obviously adore strikers who know where the net is.

Delap may have struggled a bit this season. But his time at Ipswich Town is clear evidence he can score goals regularly at this level. He got 12 in 40 appearances for the Tractor Boys.

Everton are in a good position right now, and would be a good fit for Delap is in his career at the moment.

The club have just moved into the world-class Hill Dickinson Stadium and are in safe hands with Moyes.

And on the manager, he has developed some top attacking players in the past such as Wayne Rooney, Tim Cahill, Jarrod Bowen, Michail Antonio and Marko Arnautovic. Delap could be the latest to thrive.

If Delap is to leave Chelsea this summer, then he will not be short of suitors and it’s important for him to pick the right option.

Everton would be an excellent move for him for reasons mentioned above, plus the fact there’s a large English contingent at the club.

What might be quite important for Everton is to secure European football in order to increase the appeal for Delap.

That said, if Everton fall short then Delap should still consider the move.

There’s plenty of time for that in his career and right now it’s primarily about playing as much as possible, and Everton can provide him with the chance to do that.
