The Miami Dolphins are actively changing things around and are really getting on with the team restructuring that they needed. As they make some major changes, the most recent one being the release of star wide receiver Tyreek Hill.

Miami Dolphins quarterback Tua Tagovailoa (1) and wide receiver Tyreek Hill (10) take the field before the opening game of the season against the New England Patriots at Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Sept. 11, 2022.
Hill was released by the Dolphins on Monday after being in Miami for four seasons. While the franchise brought him on as a bet to be a piece of the puzzle for quarterback Tua Tagovailoa, it didn’t work out.
Now that Hill is out of the picture, Cam Newton predicts Tagovailoa to be the next one who would be taking an exit from the team, especially with the potential Quinn Ewers showed in the last couple of games of the 2025 season.
One of the biggest barriers to Tagovailoa’s potential exit from South Florida is his massive 4-year, $212 million contract that he signed after playing well in the 2023 season.
While it’s clear Tagovailoa is not the answer the Dolphins need at the quarterback position, trading him would be expensive.
“How do you say, we rebuilding without saying werebuilding? All right. How do we say I see a lot ofconstruction hats>> and a lot of caution tape without saying,we changing some things around? We got a new GM, a new coach, and weabout to really get it done our way. I am saying it’s a new team,a new scheme, and a overall new regime. And everybody who’s oldgoing on about that though.
“This is the bad side of management, cuz I bet they’re saying we should havenever given Tua Tagovailoa allthat money. THEY GOT 99 PROBLEMS AND Tua all ofthem.” Newton said in his latest analysis.

NFL Insider Weighs In on Tyreek Hill, Tua Tagovailoa Situation at Miami Dolphins
NFL insider Ian Rapoport talked to Rich Eisen in a recent interview and talked about how the Dolphins are releasing various high-profile players and even weighed in on how Tua Tagovailoa himself said a reset would make sense.
Rapoport also shared that while the Dolphins would like to trade him, he doesn’t know if it”s a viable option in terms of salary.
“If [the Dolphins] are gonna do a trade, they are gonna eat a lot of the salary so it would really be just like, can they save, whatever the number is five or ten [million] and get some sort of draft pick like a mid-route pick something like that. So either way, cap-wise, it stings,” Rapoport said on The Rich Eisen Show. “This is a problem. And if you’re short of understanding why the move for Chris Grier was made, like this is one of the reasons, right?”
Dolphins fired Mike McDaniel as their head coach and hired Jeff Hafley as the replacement.
