Former NBA Champion Reflects On 'Special Time' With Celtics

Kristaps Porzingis only spent two seasons with the Boston Celtics, but there was rarely a dull moment during his time there.

When he played, he was often one of the best players on the court and a marvel to watch. He had plenty of highs during his first Celtics season, helping them win a championship in 2024.

His Boston tenure was marred by injuries, however, often mysterious ones that lingered and left fans wondering when, or if, he'd return to the court.

While his Celtics experience was a mixed bag, he still has fond memories of his time there. They traded him to the Atlanta Hawks last summer, who traded him to the Golden State Warriors earlier this month.

The former All-Star will make his Warriors debut tonight against Boston alongside Al Horford. On Wednesday, he reflected on his time with the Celtics.

"I knew going to Boston it was going to be championship expectations. Al and I talked about it. I enjoyed every moment of it. You know how much I loved playing there."

"I knew going to Boston it was going to be championship expectations, obviously. I wasn't going to be like a walk in the park there," Porzingis told the media. "Just being on that stage, playing for such a historic franchise. You feel that pressure, you feel those expectations. Especially how good the team was. We knew we had to get it done, otherwise it was gonna be a fiasco."

Fortunately, Boston finally got over the hump, winning its first title in 16 years with Porzingis' help.

While last season ended in disappointment for both the player and the team, Porzingis is still proud of what he and the Celtics accomplished together.

"We had our time there and enjoyed every moment of it. We accomplished the big objective," Porzingis added. "You know how much I love playing there. Just everything. The organization, the front office, playing in TD Garden, the floor, the colors. It's an iconic franchise, so it will always be forever in my memory as a special time."
