Los Angeles Dodgers executive Lon Rosen, who has served as the executive president and chief marketing officer of the team, is taking on a new position with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Rosen will become president of business operations, the Lakers announced in a statement on Thursday.
The official has been a figure in the Los Angeles sports scene for years, serving as director of promotions for the Lakers and Los Angeles Kings, and as a special events coordinator, since he became an intern at the Forum.
Rosen is the first official, prominent hire from the new owner, Mark Walter, who also owns the Dodgers, tying both Los Angeles franchises together.

In addition to his connection with Walter, Rosen is a business partner of Magic Johnson, who is a minority owner of both the Dodgers and the Lakers.
“For many years, I have seen the impact that Lon has had in our industry,” Lakers governor Jeanie Buss said in the statement.
“Over that time, I have learned that not only is Lon a great person, but he also has a deep understanding of both sports and entertainment and a true feel for where this business is headed.”
For his part, Rosen seems excited to take on a new role, returning to the franchise where he started early in his career.
“I’m beyond grateful to Mark and Jeanie for trusting me with this incredible opportunity,” Rosen said in the statement. “As everyone knows, the economics of the sports business are constantly changing — and they will continue to do so.
“But, at root, my job is a simple one: figuring out how to do right by our employees and our partners while ensuring that the Lakers continue to provide an unparalleled experience for our fans in Los Angeles and around the world.”
The Lakers are looking to remodel their front office this offseason, taking heavy inspiration from how the Dodgers have put theirs together ?
If the Dodgers ownership group oversees a Lakers dynasty in the coming years, this will be an all-time run.

Lakers’ ties to the Dodgers
The Dodgers have achieved significant success, bringing in a front office of top-notch decision-makers who are analytically driven and adopt modern best practices.
With the Lakers’ purchase by Walter, he is set to bring in a similar brain trust, including people with a ton of basketball knowledge.
They are two different leagues and sports, but there is plenty to adopt across the disciplines.
