The New England Patriots have some work ahead of them this offseason as they look to bring in players. They should focus on adding a valuable tight end who can make a significant impact in key areas.
Baltimore Ravens tight end Charlie Kolar is set to be a free agent, and he should be a player the Patriots look to sign.
While Kolar may not have made a significant impact in the passing game, recording only 10 receptions for 142 yards and two touchdowns last season, his real talent shines in his run blocking, where he genuinely stands out.
According to Pro Football Focus, Kolar achieved the 15th-highest run blocking grade in 2025. In comparison, fellow tight ends Hunter Henry and Austin Hooper ranked much lower, with Henry coming in at 96th and Hooper at 71st.
The Patriots need to improve their run blocking in the upcoming season, and bringing in Kolar could significantly help.
A positive development is that, since Kolar played in Baltimore, there's a good chance he won't return to the Ravens under the new coaching staff. He might consider reuniting with his former head coach, John Harbaugh on the New York Giants or even linking up with his ex-offensive coordinator, Todd Monken with the Cleveland Browns. However, New England might offer him the best opportunity to win.
