Audio: Daniel Jeremiah 2026 Pre-NFL Scouting Combine Media Conference Call

Thursday afternoon, NFL Network draft analyst Daniel Jeremiah held a conference call with the media before the 2026 NFL Scouting Combine in Indianapolis, IN. As expected, he talked extensively about several different players. Imaginably, the session was quite lengthy, but it’s definitely well worth a listen.

Below is the audio from that call, roughly 72 minutes long.

Very late in the call, our very own Ross McCorkle asked Jeremiah a Steelers-related question. It was the last call of the session as well.

QUESTION: I just wanted to kind of zoom out on the draft class and a team like the Steelers, who have those 12 picks. The idea of trading up in the first round, how many blue-chip talents are there this year, and what is the value of day-two guys relative to the last couple of classes?

ANSWER: I think it’s a great question. I think it’s a good day-two. I would not anticipate the Steelers parting with those picks to move up in this draft. First of all, I think they’ve done a really good job of investing in bigs, and usually you move up for quarterbacks or bigs. You know, quarterbacks or pass rushers. Those are usually the ones you go up for, or a tackle. Well, they’ve invested, you know, in the offense and defensive line,s and there’s not a quarterback that’s gonna be worth chasing. So, I don’t really see them moving up for any of these other guys.

And I think that the perimeter needs that they have; wide receiver, there’ll be good options for them. If they want to go in the corner department, there’s gonna be ways they can go there as well, or anywhere in the secondary. So, safety could be in the mix as well. So, to me, I don’t really see that as a direction.

If anything, just because of the uncertainty of the quarterback position going off into the future, I would think that they’d be more likely to put that car in reverse than to go forward just to get some extra assets, either this year or next year. So, I just don’t think it would make a lot of sense for them.
