Warriors coach Steve Kerr expects Porzingis to play and make his Golden State debut, although off the bench and on a strict minute restriction.
Kristaps Porzingis is now on the board for his much-awaited Golden State Warriors debut.
Golden State Warriors / Schedule
Ahead of their Thursday showdown against the Boston Celtics, head coach Steve Kerr told reporters he expects Porzingis to finally appear in his first game wearing a Warriors uniform.
Should Porzingis finally play, Kerr revealed that the Latvian big man will come off the bench and be under a minute restriction.
Porzingis hasn't played since Jan. 7 due to his lingering Achilles issues. As such, he is poised to finally represent the team since his NBA trade deadline arrival that sent Jonathan Kuminga and Buddy Hield to the Atlanta Hawks.
The star center endured a tough season filled with injuries, but he can only hope for a fresh start in the Bay Area. Porzingis appeared in 17 games so far this 2025-26, averaging 17.1 points, 5.1 rebounds and 2.7 assists in 24.3 minutes.
With Porzingis playing as a reserve, Al Horford, Draymond Green and Quinten Post are still set to anchor the Warriors' frontcourt presence.
