The Los Angeles Rams announced a bevy of roster moves on Thursday, including a couple they previously worked out, bringing their total into double digits.
That is notable since the NFL offseason does not officially begin until March 11. Until then, teams are limited to who they can sign: only their own players or those who were not on an NFL roster to end the season.
The context underscores the significant number of moves the Rams made at this stage.
Rams Announce 15 Reserve/Future Contracts

“The Rams have signed 15 players to Reserve/Future contracts, ensuring each of them a spot on the team’s roster this spring,” TheRams.com’s Stu Jackson wrote on February 19.
Notably, though, just four of those players are newly completed transactions. The newcomers are defensive backs Alex Johnson and Nate Valcarcel, offensive lineman Wyatt Bowles, and running back Jordan Waters.
None of the players in that group has played in a regular-season game in their careers.
They are also all former undrafted free agents. However, they spent time with the Rams this past season as members of the practice squad.
Whatever other roster moves the Rams planned on making likely remain in place after this flurry. But they have a head start on scouting for their practice squad next season at the very least, while the players all get some clarity heading into the offseason, if only temporarily.
Veterans from other teams and undrafted free agents will flood the market soon enough.
Still, head coach Sean McVay and the Rams know full well the value of having a well-stocked practice squad can bring during a long NFL season.

In addition to the newcomers, the Rams made their moves to add 11 other players to their roster official heading into the offseason.
Heavy Sports previously covered the Rams’ movies to add DBs Cam Lampkin and Tanner Ingle, defensive tackle Bill Norton, linebacker Elias Neal, O-linemen AJ Arcuri and Dylan McMahon, and receivers Brennan Presley, Mario Williams, Tru Edwards, and Tyler Scott.
The Rams finalized those decisions on Thursday after not confirming in January.
Arcuri (261st overall in 2022 by the Rams), McMahon (190th overall in 2024 by the Philadelphia Eagles), and Scott (133rd overall in 2023 by the Chicago Bears) are the only former draft picks.
The Rams’ roster figures to look largely the same next season, particularly at the top of their depth chart. But moves like the ones they made on Thursday will be what bolsters the roster for this coming season.
Rams Heading for Intriguing Offseason
Matthew Stafford, Los Angeles Rams

The Rams have ample cap space. They can fill any need, so long as they find a suitable target in free agency.
They also have two first-round picks.
There is plenty of intrigue around the selections. The Rams could use one or both (in a trade package) to select their quarterback of the future. That is with the understanding that Matthew Stafford is in the mix for next season.
The Rams plan to stay aggressive around Stafford as far as building out their roster. Their moves on Thursday were all minor. Still, they are the first foundation for the offseason.
