In 2025, Caleb Williams established himself as one of the premier young quarterbacks in the NFL, leading the Chicago Bears on a deep playoff run full of thrilling comeback wins.

His natural arm talent and underrated athleticism make him one of the most fun players to watch.

Recently, on Maxx Crosby's "The Rush" podcast, he went into detail about certain aspects of his offseason training and diet. He mentions incorporating yoga and other sports into his routine.

This is interesting because most athletes become specialists, especially at Williams' level. They train in their sport and their sport only.

Williams takes a different approach. Research suggests that cross-training has merit in improving injury prevention, recovery, and general fitness. Caleb is months away from OTAs (Organized Team Activities), so he can use this opportunity to try different things without worrying about sport specific movements.

Between minicamp and training camp, he uses that time to focus on strength training. Quarterbacks take a beating throughout the season, especially ones like Williams who rely on their rushing ability.

From a diet perspective, Williams says, "he takes two weeks of really unhealthy eating" and goes into detail about some of his favorite junk foods. But beyond that brief time period he is more regimented about his meals, hydration, and sleep.

Caleb is clearly a guy who knows himself and his body. Some people go off their diet and it compounds into a long-term bad habit. Williams is able to have his fun for a brief period and get himself back on track. Certain people have the ability to flip the switch and lock back in.

Considering he's been an elite athlete his entire life, it's no surprise that the former Heisman trophy winner is able to do this.

The emerging star's approach to his offseason is a window into why he has the makings of a long-term franchise cornerstone. The discipline to build in recovery, cross-train intelligently, and allow himself brief moments of indulgence without losing the bigger picture is a level of self-awareness that separates good athletes from great ones.
