The Boston Celtics kicked off their four-game road trip on a high note, destroying the Golden State Warriors 121-110 on Thursday night at the Chase Center.
The surging Celtics picked up where they left off before the All-Star Break, improving to 7-1 over their last eight games. They're now 36-19, good for second place in the Eastern Conference and the third-best record in the NBA.
As expected, Boston took advantage of a shorthanded Warriors squad that was missing both Stephen Curry and Jimmy Butler. The Celtics pulled away in the second quarter and never looked back, taking a 23-point lead into halftime and cruising from there, leading by as many as 34 points in the third quarter.
Boston dominated down low, outrebounding Golden State 54-40 and outscoring them 58-44 in the paint.

Payton Pritchard led both sides in scoring with 26 points off the bench for the Celtics, hitting six 3-pointers. He also had six rebounds and seven assists.
Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown continued his MVP-caliber campaign with his third triple-double of the year, racking up 23 points, 15 rebounds and 13 assists. The rebounds and assists were season highs for Brown.
Sam Hauser also shot the ball well, going 4-5 from downtown and finishing with 16 points and a plus-22.
As for the Warriors, Al Horford struggled against his old team, scoring just five points in 28 bench minutes while shooting 2-for-10 from the floor. Kristaps Porzingis fared better in his Golden State debut, notching 12 points in 17 minutes off the bench.
Boston will look to keep rolling against the Los Angeles Lakers on Sunday.
