The Sacramento Kings made unwanted franchise history after suffering their 15th straight loss in a blowout defeat to the Orlando Magic. The skid is now the longest losing streak in team history.
The Sacramento Kings are in the record books. But this is not the kind of history any team wants.
After a heavy 131–94 loss to the Orlando Magic at Golden 1 Center, Sacramento dropped its 15th straight game. That is now the longest losing streak in franchise history.
The Kings passed the old mark of 14 consecutive defeats set by the Cincinnati Royals in the 1959–1960 and 1971–1972 seasons. What was once a rough stretch has turned into a full collapse.
Sacramento now holds the worst record in the NBA at 12–45. They are also just 9–20 at home. The last time the Kings won a game was on January 12 against the Houston Rockets. Since then, it has been loss after loss, with no momentum and no answers.
Injuries have made the situation worse. Domantas Sabonis is out for the season with a torn meniscus. Zach LaVine is also sidelined for the year with a fractured hand. Without two key starters, the rotation lacks balance and scoring punch.
Against Orlando, the Kings had no answer for the Magic perimeter attack. Orlando drained 27 three–pointers, setting a franchise record of its own. Sacramento fell behind early and never recovered.
