Liverpool have first refusal to sign £30m Brazilian wanted by Newcastle United

Liverpool are reportedly keen on the Palmeiras man.

Liverpool lead the way to sign a Brazilian talent in the summer transfer window, it is suggested.

According to reports in South America, the Reds are keen on signing Allan Elias. The 21-year-old represents Palmeiras, having come through the ranks of the Sao Paulo-based outfit.

Allan has made a total of 64 appearances for Palmeiras, recording five goals and six assists. In 2025, he was voted Bola de Prata Breakthrough Player by magazine Placar. He has operated in a variety of positions during his career, including all central midfield roles and both wide attacking positions.

Premier League rivals Newcastle United and Aston Villa have been linked with Allan. It was claimed that the former have ‘pushed strongly’ in a bid to secure a deal.

In addition, Italian champions Napoli reportedly had an offer turned down in the January transfer window.

However, there are claims in Brazil that Liverpool are close to agreeing terms in a deal that would be worth around £30 million. Allan is said to have a release clause of £87 million but Palmeiras are reportedly trying to raise around £60 million in player sales and are willing to accept a lower offer.

It is reported that the deal could be signed off in the next few weeks and Allan would arrive at Anfield after the World Cup takes place this summer. Allan is yet to make his debut for Selecao.

Will Liverpool sign Allan Elias?

Reports from South America always have to be taken with a pinch of salt. Last month, there were claims in Ecuador that Liverpool had agreed to sign Joel Ordonez from Club Brugge but the Reds quickly poured cold water on those suggestions.

But Liverpool’s model is to sign young talent and hone their potential. That was on display last summer, with Florian Wirtz, Hugo Ekitike, Milos Kerkez and Giovanni Leoni being signed all aged 23 or below. Meanwhile, the Reds have agreed a transfer for 20-year-old Jeremy Jacquet from Rennes at the end of the season. The centre-back will cost Arne Slot’s side a fee of up to £60 million.

If Liverpool feel Allan could make an impact in the short and long term then they may make a move. However, the Reds have been hesitant to sign players directly from South America. Liverpool recruited goalkeeper Marcelo Pitaluga from Fluminense in 2019 but he did not make a first-team appearance and returned to the Brazilian side last year.
