Pause put on transfer to Liverpool–Reds haven’t reached agreement just yet

Liverpool have been linked with Palmeiras youngster Allan in recent days, but the Brazilian club insist there is no agreement in place.

According toiG Esporte, Palmeiras deny any done deal for the 21-year-old attacking midfielder. The report emerged after speculation in Brazil suggested the Reds were moving closer to securing the player.

Instead, as explained by journalist André Hernan on ESPN Brazil, the Brazilian side state that while Allan is attracting strong European interest, nothing is currently agreed with Liverpool or any other club.

Contract situation and rejected bids

Allan is under contract until December 31, 2029. That long-term deal gives Palmeiras significant leverage. Internally, he is seen as their most valuable asset this season.

His rise under Abel Ferreira has been rapid. The midfielder has become one of the standout performers since breaking into the senior side. As a result, several European clubs have made approaches.

In January, Palmeiras rejected what ESPN described as an “astronomical” bid from Napoli. The offer totalled €35m (£30m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in bonuses. Before that, Zenit Saint Petersburg proposed €20m (£17.1m) plus €5m (£4.3m) in add-ons. Both proposals were turned down.

Since his promotion to the first team, Allan has registered five goals and six assists in 64 appearances. Palmeiras consider him a key piece with substantial room to develop further.

Why this matters for Liverpool

For Liverpool, the situation is clear. There is interest, but no sign of agreement. ESPN confirmed there are enquiries from different clubs. However, Palmeiras suggest that a permanent transfer is likelier after the World Cup, when the European season resets.

Abel Ferreira recently underlined the club’s position after a 1-0 win over Santos. He said: “They are players who give us a lot of work. What makes me sad is that when they are ready, you have to sell. We had to sell Endrick, Estêvão, Vitor Reis, now Allan.”

He added: “Palmeiras, at this moment, is in a position to choose when it can and cannot sell. That is why we did joint work with the finance department and the board. The coach is much more than what happens on the pitch.”

That stance signals patience rather than urgency. If Liverpool are serious, they may need to wait – and pay well above the rejected €40m (£34.3m) package – to change Palmeiras’ position.
