Chelsea are one of the major clubs linked with the signing of Konstantinos Karetsas from Genk, however are going to regret it if they don’t beat their rivals to bringing him in.
The Blues are expected to enjoy another fruitful summer window after refusing to spend any more during January to bolster Liam Rosenior’s squad.
The mantra of signing new players has not disappeared as far as Todd Boehly and co are concerned, and Karetsas is the latest individual to emerge as one of the stars of tomorrow.

Why Chelsea have to beat Manchester City to Konstantinos Karetsas signing
Chelsea are not the only club being linked to the youngster. Manchester City, Bayern Munich and Borussia Dortmund are all showing an interest too, according to 24Sata.
Karetsas has already been described as a ‘mini-Odegaard’ by the media (according to Chelsea News), another player who made his mark during his teenage years.

Despite being just 18, the attacking midfielder is showing he can compete at first team level at Genk. He has 16 assists in all competitions already this season.
This includes four in the Europa League, as well as two goals, and his figures up against the Chelsea players makes for interesting viewing.
The Blues’ top assister so far this season has been Joao Pedro with eight, and they have clearly been lacking a regular creative source in the side.

Injuries have not left Cole Palmer alone throughout the 2025/26 campaign, and there are no real alternatives in the squad to fill the number 10 void.
The loan signing of Facundo Buonanotte didn’t work out as planned, and he has already left the club and joined Leeds United.
Chelsea need to address this, and have not got the results from Kendry Paez that they were expecting after his signing a few years ago.
Karetsas provides a young option who is already able to contribute at the top level, and is a player Chelsea should move for in order to not allow their rivals to strengthen for the future.
