Cade Cunningham put on a historic performance against the New York Knicks, scoring 42 points with 13 assists and eight rebounds at Madison Square Garden. By doing so, he joined LeBron James and Allen Iverson as the only opposing players with 40+ points and 10+ assists at MSG.
Fresh off the All-Star break, Detroit Pistons star Cade Cunningham made history at Madison Square Garden vs. the New York Knicks, joining an elite group of NBA stars.
The guard erupted for 42 points, 13 assists, and eight rebounds while connecting on five of 11 three-pointers in Thursday's win over the Knicks.
With this performance, Cunningham became just the third opposing player in MSG history to record 40+ points and 10+ assists in a game, joining LeBron James (twice) and Allen Iverson.
This puts him in rarefied company as one of the few players to dominate on both scoring and playmaking on the Knicks' home floor.
Cunningham also made Pistons history as the first player in franchise history to record 40+ points, 10+ assists, five-plus rebounds, and five–plus made threes in a single game.
Scoring 24 points in the first half, Cunningham was in full control. His 42 points were just four shy of his career–high set in November against the Washington Wizards.
