Exclusive: Brazilian football expert says Liverpool could now be signing a £35m Harvey Elliott regen

Rousing The Kop Exclusive.

Liverpool are reportedly advancing in discussions with Palmeiras over a summer deal to sign 21-year-old Allan Elias.

The Reds have been reluctant to shop in Brazil over the years, but having recently seen the likes of Murillo and Estevao Willian move to the Premier League with real success, it seems they may be changing tack.

According to reports in the South American country, Liverpool are closing in on Allan having identified him as a big young talent.

Pick one player you’d re-sign – Luis Diaz or Trent Alexander-Arnold?

While these claims are awaiting verification, RTK decided to enlist the help of Brazilian football journalist Filipe Guedes to share the lowdown on what Reds fans can expect from Allan should he join.

Allan stands out for his versatility

Palmeiras have become Brazil’s best exporter of talent during the 2020s, with the likes of Endrick, Vitor Reis and Estevao all making moves to some of Europe’s biggest clubs.

According to Guedes, Allan may not quite hit the heights of that celebrated trio, but he does stand out for his versatility.

“After Endrick, Vitor Reis and Estevao, Allan is the latest Palmeiras academy product to establish himself in Abel Ferreira’s starting XI,” Guedes tells RTK. “He doesn’t seem as talented as those other names, which explains why he is expected to move to Europe at an older age than his former teammates, but those comparisons shouldn’t overshadow his quality.

“Playing on the right-wing, Allan was Palmeiras’ standout player in the last months of 2025. He is strong, fast, versatile (can play on both wings, attacking midfielder and even as a central midfielder), skilful and – unlike many other youngsters – he seems ‘tactically mature’, someone also active off the ball.”

Although he is unlikely to be ready for a starting position at Anfield having played only 64 times for Palmeiras, Guedes believes he could be ready for a fringe role within the Liverpool squad.

“I don’t believe Allan would quickly cement his place as a Liverpool starter, even if Mo Salah departs, but he would undoubtedly be a good addition as a squad player, especially due to his versatility,” he says.

Harvey Elliott comparisons come to the fore

Liverpool supporters will no doubt be excited by the prospect of a celebrated Brazilian youngster joining their ranks.

But although some fans may be dreaming of the next Vinicius, Rodrygo or Estevao joining, Guedes insists that Allan is actually more like a popular former Liverpool player: Harvey Elliott.

“I can’t think of a Brazilian youngster with similar traits to Allan right now, and people could kill me for what I’m going to say, but I can see some similarities between him and Harvey Elliott,” says the journalist.

“However, he has clear physical edges over Elliott: he is taller, stronger, has no concerning injury record and is more aggressive. Those differences could play a huge part in a potential Premier League move.”

With some Liverpool fans disappointed to see Elliott leave last summer, albeit on a complicated loan, they will be pleased to learn a stronger, improved version could be on the way. But if the Reds are to bring Allan to Merseyside, Guedes says it is going to cost them.

“Palmeiras plans a revenue of around £57m from player sales this year, so Allan’s departure is likely,” he says. “However, they reportedly rejected a £35m bid from Napoli, so it wouldn’t be a cheap transfer.”
