Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali have spent the last three years building a squad defined by youth, but the Chelsea owners now appear ready to refine that blueprint by opening the door to senior leadership this summer.
Chelsea had a January transfer window to forget after failing to make a first-team signing, despite having their hands in many pots.
Jeremy Jacquet was supposed to have given his word to Chelsea about joining them, but that didn’t go to plan as he ended up choosing Liverpool instead.
Elsewhere, a central midfielder was on the radar for a while. But as was typical of Chelsea’s window, Douglas Luiz ended up joining Aston Villa, and trust was put in Romeo Lavia.
Now, it seems as if the Chelsea higher ups are changing their ways slightly.

Chelsea open to signing experienced players now
According to TeamTalk, Chelsea are more ‘open-minded’ to signing experienced players.
Dean Jones had this to say on the matter.
“I do get the impression Chelsea are more open-minded than when they were previously only looking at younger players. There is definitely a chance they look to sign someone with more experience and seniority.
“But at the moment, I am told the Kim links are just one of a number of deals they have on their mind for the summer, and ultimately they will still be looking for good value.”
Be honest, which full-back can you imagine Estevao possibly struggling against? ❌

Chelsea should have added experience a long time ago
One of the only things missing from this Chelsea side has been experience at times. There have been moments under Liam Rosenior, like the Arsenal clash in the Carabao Cup, where you need someone to take the game by the scruff of the neck and lead from the front.
Jamie Redknapp advised Chelsea to sign a ‘unicorn’ type player like Thiago Silva, as players like John Terry just aren’t available anymore.
He’s right. Despite only being at Chelsea for a short time, Thiago Silva made a greater impact than anyone expected. As well as his world-class performance, he led from the front in key moments, winning the Champions League, UEFA Super Cup and FIFA Club World Cup.
