Former Denver Broncos and San Francisco 49ers front office executive Neal Dahlen has died. He was 85.
The Broncos announced Dahlen’s death earlier this week.
“We’re saddened to learn of the passing of Neal Dahlen, our former General Manager from 1999-2001,” the Broncos posted on X. “Dahlen also served as director of player personnel during our back-to-back World Championships and was a perfect 7-0 in Super Bowls during his career.”
Dahlen began working for the 49ers in 1979 as a coaching administrator and remained with the franchise until 1996.
He was a part of the organization as San Francisco won five Super Bowl titles, doing so during the 1981, 1984, 1988, 1989 and 1994 seasons.
Dahlen then left to join the Broncos organization as the director of player personnel. He helped put together a team that won back-to-back Super Bowls in 1997 and 1998 in Denver.
A California native, Dahlen was promoted to Broncos General Manager in 1999 and held that role until 2001.
He was a perfect 7-0 during Super Bowls in his career.
Dahlen is tied with legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady for the second-most Super Bowl titles with seven.
Only Patriots legendary coach Bill Belichick has more Super Bowls as he won eight.
