Chelsea could have a big decision to make regarding the future of the player this summer

Chelsea striker Liam Delap has emerged as a ‘top target’ for Everton ahead of the summer, according to Football Insider. The Toffees are keen to lure the player to the Hill Dickinson Stadium at the end of the season. He is under contract at Stamford Bridge until June 2031 so still has plenty of years left to run down.

Liam Rosenior’s side won 4-0 away at Hull City last time out in the fourth round of the FA Cup. They are back in Premier League action this weekend at home to Burnley. Their upcoming opponents are in the drop zone along with Wolves and West Ham.

Chelsea striker Liam Delap eyed by Everton

Chelsea would have a big decision to make in the next window if Everton come in with a big offer for Delap. He has made 24 appearances in all competitions this season and has scored two goals. The forward has only managed to find the net once in the league for the London outfit.

Delap, 23, joined Manchester City as a youngster from Derby County back in 2019 and was a regular for his former team at various different youth levels before going on to play six times for their first-team under the guidance of Pep Guardiola. He was loaned out away from the Etihad Stadium to Stoke City, Preston North End and Hull to get some experience under his belt in the Championship. Ipswich Town then came calling permanently in 2024 and he fired 12 goals in 24 outings for the Tractor Boys.

What now for Chelsea?

Chelsea will fancy their chances of beating lowly Burnley on Saturday. Speaking after their victory over Hull, Rosenior said: “The overall positive thing was the application of the team. Our pressing, our intensity, our work rate and Pedro (Neto) exemplified that, to be honest. That’s why he scores the goals that he does.

“I’m very lucky to have such talented players. What I’m really realising quickly is they’re not good players, they’re outstanding professionals. It was a really professional performance against a very good team, who are pushing for the Premier League.

“This is not an easy game, and some of our football was everything I want to see. But before that, the values of what the team stood for tonight made me a very happy coach.”
