Liverpool’s latest Brazilian link looked to be edging towards a conclusion this week, with reports in South America claiming the club were closing in on a £30m deal for Palmeiras midfielder Allan.
The 21-year-old, described as a “complete” midfielder by scouts, has supposedly been the subject of extensive monitoring from Anfield, with some reports suggesting negotiations over a package were at an advanced stage and could be wrapped up in the coming weeks.
Talk of Allan becoming the next big export from Palmeiras, following the likes of Endrick and Estevão, only fuelled the sense that Liverpool were on the brink of securing their next long‑term project from Brazil.
However, newer updates have poured a little cold water on that excitement. Brazilian outlet iG Esporte, relayed by Sport Witness, insists Palmeiras are adamant no agreement with Liverpool is in place and that talk of a done or near‑done deal is premature.
It’s reportedly stressed that Allan is tied down until the end of 2029 and remains one of their most valuable assets, with previous “astronomical” offers from Napoli and Zenit both rebuffed earlier this year.
While there is clear interest from Merseyside and elsewhere in Europe, the message from São Paulo for now is that everything is on pause – and that any club wanting to change that stance may have to return with a bid well beyond the £30m figure initially touted.
It was previously reported Liverpool have moved into pole position and are negotiating a deal that could be worth up to around £30m including performance-related bonuses – with Palmeiras planning part of their 2026 budget around his sale.
The proposed structure would see the Reds secure Allan’s signature soon but leave him in Brazil until after the World Cup, allowing Palmeiras to keep a key asset for the rest of the year while still cashing in at a favourable price.
However, the move has now been cast into doubt.
