Report: Liverpool in hunt to sign Hugo Ekitike's former teammate in £56m deal but face battle with Arsenal

Nathaniel Brown is expected to leave Eintracht Frankfurt, with Liverpool, Arsenal and several more teams in the hunt for the defender.

Liverpool had a quiet January transfer window, with Jeremy Jacquet, who won’t join until the summer, the only addition.

Jamie Carragher wanted another defender signed in the winter, but as that did not happen, Arne Slot has been left short of options in his back four.

Got a horrible feeling Slot is going to keep Gakpo in the XI and drop Salah 😬 Who should be the front four vs Forest?

However, that could change in the summer if Liverpool can win the race for Nathaniel Brown.

Nathaniel Brown could leave Eintracht Frankfurt for £56m

After signing in January 2024, Brown became a regular feature in the Eintracht Frankfurt first team last season.

He featured alongside Hugo Ekitike, who left the German outfit for Anfield this past summer in a big-money move.

Brown could now follow in the footsteps of the Frenchman, with Bild reporting that Liverpool are one of the teams looking at the left-back.

Arsenal, Manchester City and Real Madrid are also mentioned as suitors for the defender.

They add that Brown is highly likely to leave Frankfurt in the 2026 summer transfer window, with the Bundesliga side putting a price tag of €65m (around £56m) on his head.

Nathaniel Brown likely to replace Andy Robertson

Brown’s arrival would likely mean that Andy Robertson’s time at the club comes to an end.

Milos Kerkez has become the new primary left-back this season, seeing the Scotsman forced into a back-up role.

Robertson was open to leaving Liverpool in January, but a deal was not sanctioned.

However, the 31-year-old will be out of contract at the end of June 2026, and if the Reds are looking to sign a new left-back to rival Kerkez, it would not make sense for him to be given a new deal.

Brown has three goals and four assists in 21 Bundesliga matches so far this term.
