Andy Reid is continuing to make changes to his coaching staff with the Kansas City Chiefs ahead of the new season while looking to bounce back from their nightmare 2025 year.
The Chiefs started 2025 by getting blown out by the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl and ended it by missing the playoffs in the following regular season. Patrick Mahomes sustained his first major injury towards the end of the campaign and that had a significant impact.

Just days after the season ended, the Chiefs made a number of moves to their coaching staff. This week, long-time defensive backs coach Andre Curtis, formerly of the Seattle Seahawks and Dallas Cowboys.

It's one of few changes made on the defensive side of the ball, with the offense having the more significant moves in what will almost be an entirely new group of coaches.
Prior to the end of the year, it had become evident that offensive coordinator (OC) Matt Nagy would leave the team. He hoped to land either a head coaching role or become an OC with a different team - giving him the ability to call plays.
Reid remains the Chiefs' offensive play caller for Patrick Mahomes, with the coordinator having other responsibilities.

Nagy eventually agreed to become OC for the New York Giants, where he'll call plays under coach John Harbaugh for quarterback Jaxson Dart.
This, coming after wide receiver coach Connor Embree was fired, before running backs coach Todd Pinkston was also relieved of his duties just days later.
The following week, assistant running backs coach Mark DeLeone left the team with no statement made as the Chiefs quietly removed his profile from their website.
Former Dallas Cowboys star DeMarco Murray was surprisingly named as Chiefs' new running back coach. He spent the last six years coaching at his alma mater in Oklahoma.

Meanwhile, former OC Eric Bieniemy was brought back in the same role. Bieniemy looks to have landed on his feet after a few difficult years away from the team, being fired by the Washington Commanders and UCLA.
Mahomes has a close relationship with Bieniemy, with the team using the quarterback to open up a huge amount of cap space this week.
Despite this, Kansas City still has a significant amount of work to do to the roster, currently having -$11 million in cap space to spend while needing to let go further players.

They still await Travis Kelce's decision, who is contemplating retirement for the second consecutive year.
