South Carolina is expected to hire Matthew Smiley as it new special teams coordinator, according to a report from ESPN's Pete Thamel on Friday morning.
Smiley, who replaces Joe DeCamillis who was hired as the Las Vegas Raiders' special teams coordinator, brings multiple years of NFL special teams coaching experience to the Gamecocks.
Smiley was most recently the Buffalo Bills special teams coordinator from 2022-24 after spending the previous five seasons as the Bills' assistant special teams coordinator. He was also the Jacksonville Jaguars assistant special teams coordinator from 2013-16.
