Liverpool’s recruitment team looked hard at right-back cover in January, and one of the more eye-catching names to emerge was Leeds United defender Jayden Bogle. According to reports, the club made what was described as a “serious enquiry” for the 25-year-old, only to be rebuffed by a Leeds side with no intention of weakening a key position mid-season.
Bogle has quietly become one of Daniel Farke’s most trusted players, helping Leeds back into the Premier League and then stepping up again in the top flight.
After a standout 2024-25 campaign in the Championship, where he hit a career-high six goals and four assists on the way to promotion and a place in the Team of the Season, he has carried that form into this year.
So far in 2025–26 he has racked up 16 league appearances, adding one goal and featuring in a chaotic 3-3 draw against Liverpool at Elland Road that will not have gone unnoticed at Anfield. An energetic, overlapping full-back who offers width, intensity and recovery pace down the right, his physical profile and engine fit the kind of high-tempo, front-foot football Arne Slot demands from his defenders.
That context explains why Liverpool sounded out a possible deal once injuries exposed their depth on the right side, even if it always felt more like opportunistic cover than a long-term flagship signing. Leeds, for their part, view Bogle as one of the first names on the teamsheet and a player the 49ers ownership is extremely reluctant to cash in on while they look to stabilise in the division.
Now the 25-year-old was asked this week by BBC Radio Leeds whether he was flattered by links to big-six clubs, Bogle delivered the kind of measured line managers love. “I’m just solely focused on what we’re doing this season and the goals we’ve got to achieve,” he replied, batting away the speculation and putting the emphasis back on Leeds’ campaign.
It is a textbook professional response, and one that perhaps Reds fans shouldn’t look into too much.
