'The old me is dead': Bulls guard's shocking revelation about his health status

Newly acquired Chicago Bulls guard Jaden Ivey revealed that he is not the same player he used to be following his injuries, after not being put on the court in the game against the Toronto Raptors due to a coach’s decision.

Newly acquired Chicago Bulls guard Jaden Ivey offered a shocking revelation about his current health status following the 101–110 loss to the Toronto Raptors on Thursday.

Ivey did not play in the game due to a coach's decision. When asked to clarify whether he still has more steps to take health-wise before returning to his former athletic self, he gave a brutally honest assessment of his situation.

"I've been dealing with knee soreness in my knee. I'm sure people can call it out — I'm not the same player I used to be. That's why. I'm not the J.I. I used to be. The old J.I. is dead," Ivey stated via Joel Lorenzi of The Athletic.

"I'm alive in Christ no matter what the basketball setting is," he added. "No matter how many DNPs, how many points I score, those things are a temporary thing. Jesus is eternal."

Ivey has appeared in four games with the Bulls after being acquired in a trade from the Detroit Pistons.

In those four games he's been averaging 11.5 points, 4.8 rebounds and 4.0 assists in around 29 minutes per game.
