Former Liverpool defender Steven Caulker is set for a new adventure in Turkey.
The 34-year-old called time on his career at the end of last year. His time at Anfield was brief, with just four senior appearances.
Caulker spent time in the Turkish Süper Lig with Alanyaspor and Fenerbahçe, captained Sierra Leone at the Africa Cup of Nations, and most recently took on a unique challenge as a player-coach for Stjarnan FC in Iceland.
Now retired with his UEFA A License qualification, Caulker has officially been announced as an assistant coach for Turkish side Konyaspor.
An official statement on Caulker’s appointment read:
Our club has signed a contract with former Sierra Leone national team footballer Steven Caulker, an English citizen. Caulker, who is included in the technical team of our Technical Director İlhan Palut, will serve as an assistant coach.
Caulker, who started his football career in the Tottenham youth academy; He played more than 100 Premier League matches in his career for giant clubs such as Liverpool, Southampton and Cardiff City. Steven Caulker wore the jerseys of Alanyaspor, Fenerbahçe, Gaziantep FK and Karagümrük from the Süper Lig in our country. Caulker, who was most recently transferred to Icelandic representative Stjarnan in 2025, served as both a football player and assistant coach at this club.

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old has taken to LinkedIn to also affirm the news:
“I’m happy to announce that I have joined Turkish Süper Lig side, Konyaspor Kulübü Derneği, as first-team assistant coach.”
“I’ve taken my time since leaving Iceland to find what feels like the right opportunity. It’s not been easy at times to remain patient, especially when I have gone for jobs and been knocked back, but I can say today that it was worth the wait.”
