Mikel Arteta has hinted that Martin Odegaard and Kai Havertz could return to action for North London derby, providing a timely boost ahead of the crucial clash with Tottenham Hotspur.
The Arsenal manager offered an encouraging update on the duo’s fitness during his pre-match press conference, revealing that both players are making good progress after recent injury setbacks.
Havertz, who only recently returned from a long-term injury, has become a doubt again after missing the last three fixtures against Brentford, Wolverhampton Wanderers, and Wigan Athletic.
Meanwhile, club captain Odegaard has been sidelined for the Gunners’ previous two matches, the FA Cup tie against Wigan Athletic and the league encounter away at Wolves.
Despite their recent absences, Arteta suggested the pair could yet be available for selection. “We will have to wait until tomorrow but big possibility for them \[Havertz and Odegaard\] to be available,” Arteta revealed.
If they return, their comeback would provide a significant boost for Arteta ahead of the crucial North London derby.
