New Orleans Pelicans star Zion Williamson is set to trigger a major contract guarantee for the 2026-27 season if he appears in just one more contest this season.

New Orleans Pelicans / Schedule

According to NBA reporter Keith Smith, Williamson is expected to play tonight (Friday), marking his 41st appearance of the year. This milestone will trigger a $16.8M guarantee on his salary for the 2026-27 campaign.

He adds that if Williamson meets various weight conditions, he can secure an additional $8.4M in guarantees.

From there, at 51 games played, guarantee grows to $25.3M. Then, at 61 games played, guarantee grows to $33.7M

Full guarantee of $42.2M would come by playing in 61 games and meeting various weight conditions, or on July 15.

In 40 games this season, Williamson is averaging 21.6 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.
