Bruno Saltor has become Tottenham Hotspur's assistant coach, following interim boss Igor Tudor into the dugout.

The Spanish coach is one of three additions to Tudor's staff as they bid to help Spurs' relegation fight.

Saltor has previous Premier League experience when he filled in as Chelsea interim manager after Graham Potter was sacked in 2023.

His short-lived role meant he was unbeaten as a top division manager, due to him being able to hold Liverpool 0-0 at Stamford Bridge.

In the game, the Blues had two goals correctly disallowed either side of half-time.

Two days later, Chelsea appointed club legend Frank Lampard to be caretaker manager until the end of the season.

They finished the season in twelfth and reached the Champinos League quarter-finals where they lost to Real Madrid.

As Graham Potter became manager for Brighton in 2019, the former defender had just retired as a player at the club.

He was adored at the Amex where he played 235 games over seven seasons and captained the Seagulls to Premier League promotion in 2017.

In the last few months of his playing career, Saltor had already begun studying for his UEFA B and A coaching badges.

He supported Potter on the south coast as they revolutionised the club, developing young talent and pushing the team to the top half of the Premier League.

Saltor most recently coached at Spurs' other London rivals, West Ham, as part of Potter's backroom staff after he was dismissed from Chelsea.

However, their partnership ended again after only eight months in charge at the Hammers and leaving the club in the relegation zone, battling Tottenham for survival.

After Thomas Frank was sacked as Tottenham manager, they appointed ex-Juventus boss Igor Tudor.

A club statement said: "We are pleased to confirm the appointment of Igor Tudor as Men’s Head Coach until the end of the season, subject to work permit.

"Igor joins us with a clear focus: to improve performances, deliver results and move us up the Premier League table.

"His mandate is straightforward – bring organisation, intensity and competitive edge to the squad at a decisive stage of the campaign."

Tudor said: “It is an honour to join this Club at an important moment."

Spurs rung the changes in backroom with Tudor bringing in his own staff, meaning Justin Cochrane, Chris Haslam and analyst Joe Newton left in the reshuffle as well as John Heitinga, who lasted 33 days.

Tudor's first game will be the north London derby and he is confident of keeping the club in the Premier League.

"One hundred per cent," he said. "This is not important. Fighting for every position, relegation, first position, UEFA places, you achieve the position because of what you do during the week and on Sunday. It is a consequence of this. It brings you nothing if you think about relegation.

"All these goals are far away. I never give them importance. I never speak about results and what we want to achieve at the end of the season. I don’t believe in this. I believe in today’s training. This is all I want the players to think about. The position is a consequence of this.

"Five points [above the relegation zone], 10, two, it is the same. We need to be focused. Let’s focus on this and see what we can attain. Looking down or up brings you nothing."
