Liverpool’s next big piece of squad surgery is looming on the left side of defence. Andy Robertson’s deal runs out at the end of the 2025-26 season with no extension in sight.

On the other end of the depth chart, Kostas Tsimikas is currently on loan at Roma, and while the Italians have opted to keep him for the full spell, his long-term future at Anfield will also need resolving once he returns in the summer.

With academy option Owen Beck struggling with injuries, it is no surprise Liverpool are scouring the market for a new long-term left-back. Into that context drops a major claim from Germany.

BILD report that Eintracht Frankfurt’s Nathaniel Brown has become a magnet for scouts this season, with representatives from Barcelona and Manchester City said to be in the stands almost every week to track the 22-year-old.

Both clubs are understood to see his attacking instincts and comfort in possession as a natural fit for their ball-dominant styles. Crucially, though, the same report states that Brown is also “on the list” at Liverpool, alongside Arsenal and Real Madrid, with the race for his signature described as completely open at this stage.

Eintracht, for their part, are braced for a summer sale. BILD say the Bundesliga side privately accept they have almost no chance of keeping the German international (who also has citizenship with the USA), just as they did with Hugo Ekitike last year, because the volume and profile of interested clubs is simply too great.

Brown and Ekitike know each other well from their time together at Frankfurt, linking up throughout the 2024-25 campaign.

Sporting director Markus Krösche is said to view the situation as an opportunity to bank a huge fee in line with the club’s model of generating major transfer revenues, and a price tag of around 65 million euros has reportedly been set – a figure designed to at least match the record Marc Cucurella fee for a specialist left-back.

It’s added that under new coach and former Liverpool winger Albert Riera, Brown has even been used as an inverted playmaker in central areas when in possession, a tweak that industry insiders believe could push his value
