The cool reason the Patriots just paid Mack Hollins an extra $400,000

The New England Patriots did right by Mack Hollins on Friday.

They've paid Hollins $400,000 that he had nearly earned himself.

NFL Network's Tom Pelissero explained it in a post on X:

"Patriots WR Mack Hollins came up four catches short of a $400,000 incentive this past season, when a lacerated spleen cost him the last two regular-season games. A cool gesture: The Patriots honored the incentive anyway, adding a $400,000 signing bonus to Hollins’ contract."

That's the kind of small move that makes a lasting impression on future players who might consider joining the Patriots.

Hollins was just in his first season with the Pats after coming over from the Buffalo Bills, and he proved very reliable for Drake Maye in key moments.

The bonus in Hollins' contract was for 50 catches. He made 46.

Those 46 grabs in the regular season went for 550 yards and a pair of touchdowns.

Hollins, 32, is also a great blocker. He's eccentric, but he's exactly the kind of player a winning team wants to have on their side and not the other side.

The contract Hollins signed with the Patriots was for two years, so it seems likely he'll suit up for New England again in 2026. He'll do it while $400,000 richer.

It's certainly not a bad payday on a Friday in February for Hollins.
