'The board to meet at the end of the season': Fabrizio Romano drops major bombshell

**Fabrizio Romano has revealed the major factor that will influence whether or not FSG replace Arne Slot in the summer.**

The Dutchman has not covered himself in glory this seasom, failing to retain the Premier League title. Of course, the campaign isn’t over yet but even Liverpool could not overcome a 16 point deficit between them and Arsenal in just 12 games.

The Merseysiders are famed for their comebacks but this is one that will surely not come to fruition.

Given that Slot will have one year remaining on his contract this summer, Liverpool are poised for a critical decision on his future.

Fabrizio Romano reveals the one thing Arne Slot cannot fail to do before the end of the season

Speaking on his podcast, Romano reports that if Liverpool do not achieve Champions League qualification, it will trigger the club’s hierarchy into a major decision on Arne Slot’s future.

_“For Arne Slot the situation is quite clear,”_ Romano said on his [_Here We Go_ podcast](https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCX1em-uaFMS02Rrk_Bowyng). _“Being in the Champions League next season will be absolutely crucial for him. If Liverpool will not be in the Champions League next season I think this could bring them into an important review in the summer._

“_Now the full focus is on the pitch, on Champions League, on the opportunity to win a trophy which would be massive for Liverpool. Then in the summer, review at the club._

_“if they’re in the Champions League will be one of the factors to decide on Arne Slot. I expect the club, the owners, the board to meet at the end of the season and decide what they’re going to do._

_“At the moment they’ve always been protecting Slot, even in difficult moments when the situation was really complicated, always showing the trust, but at the end of the season there will be an internal review and we will see.”_

In many ways, Slot is lucky to still be in his role. Liverpool have been defeated eight times in the Premier League this season. Given 26 games have been played so far, that means the Reds have lost 30% of their matches this season.
