Ex-Tottenham man joins Arsenal pile on and labels Gunners‘Spursy’

After Arsenal dropped two points against Wolves on Wednesday night after leading 0-2, the pile-on was predictable.

Dropping points against the Premier League‘s whipping boys, who have only picked up one win all season and will likely go down as one of the worst teams in the history of the division, raised concerns about the Gunners ability to end their Premier League trophy drought and finally land the title after three successive second-place finished.

Arsenal fans don’t need to be reminded of their team’s ability to choke, but that hasn’t stopped the accusations levelled at Mikel Arteta‘s team that they are about to ‘bottle’ another title. From cruising to the league, all of a sudden it’s sh*t yourself time.

Arsenal buckle towards the end

Predictably, ex-Spurs man Jamie O’Hara joined in with the crowd. Speaking to 10bet, the TalkSPORT pundit said of the Gunners: “They’re always Spursy, aren’t they? Every season they become Spursy. That’s just what they do. They buckle towards the end. Now whether that happens this season I’m yet to see. I don’t know.”

O’Hara did offer one sliver of optimism for Arsenal: the inconsistency of Man City.

“The problem I’ve got is Man City are not the finished article. This Man City team, I don’t feel that’s been built to win the league this season. But they are there because they’ve got top players, they’ve got Pep Guardiola, so they’re still fighting it out. But I don’t feel like this team is the finished article.”

The Gunners travel across North London to face hated rivals Tottenham on Sunday, a match they surely have to win to calm the nerves and the chokers narrative.

Twists and turns to come in the title race

Continuing, O’Hara expects more twists and turns in the title race before the end of the season.

“I do believe that Arsenal will make some mistakes still towards the end of the season. They have built a squad though to try to win it. It has been built to win it. But I still think there’s twists and turns.

“I do. I think there’s twists and turns in this season. I think there’s some big games coming up for both sides and I’m not convinced that Arsenal are that great. They’ve been efficient this season but I don’t think they’re a great team,” he concluded.

Tottenham vs Arsenal takes place at 16:30 on Sunday.
