Bernardo Silva
Manchester City midfielder Bernardo Silva
Bernardo Silva’s contract at Manchester City expires in June and his future beyond this season still needs to be clarified.
Last October, Pep Guardiola said he’ll be “delighted and happy” if Silva were to extend his stay. At the same time, the manager insisted the 31-year-old will decide with Manchester City what’s best for him.
The Portugal international hasn’t signed a new contract at Manchester City yet and that makes him a market opportunity in the summer.
Manchester City contract situation attracting attention
Juventus are among the clubs in the picture to sign the midfielder on a free transfer. Two weeks ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Italy of the Serie A side’s interest in Silva. The source reported the Turin club aim to give him a two-year contract.
Galatasaray are also in the mix and Fotomaç now cover the latest on their plan to secure his services.
The Istanbul club have identified two midfield targets. Those are Silva and Inter Milan star Hakan Çalhanoğlu, who also has a contract at the San Siro until 2027.
Galatasaray manager Okan Buruk said “we are waiting with open arms” for the Turkey international. Fotomaç then focus on Bernardo Silva.
Galatasaray’s efforts to sign Manchester City player
It’s claimed the Süper Lig winners have a ‘serious interest’ in signing Silva for free after this season.
Last summer, former Manchester City forward Leroy Sané joined Gala on a free transfer, after ending his five-year spell at Bayern Munich. In the same window, Guardiola’s side allowed İlkay Gündoğan to join the Turkish club.
Galatasaray intend to reunite Silva with former two Etihad stars in Istanbul and aim to finalise the operation as early as possible.
In order to achieve their objective, Fotomaç report Gündoğan ‘will hold a meeting’ with Silva. This is likely to convince him to join Galatasaray, but that may not be easy as there are other clubs keen on the Portuguese.
Bernardo Silva has managed two goals and five assists from 35 matches for Guardiola’s side this season.
