Chelsea and Atlético Madrid could be about to do business–Market opportunity identified

Nicolas Jackson

COLOGNE, GERMANY – 29 OCTOBER, 2025: Nicolas Jackson – The football match of Germany Cup DFB Pokal 1.FC Koeln vs FC Bayern at Rhein Energie Stadion.

Atlético Madrid have set their sights on Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson, according to Wiw Sport.

Towards the end of last summer, Chelsea let the striker join Bayern Munich on loan with a conditional obligation to buy. The clause will kick in if he makes a certain number of appearances this season.

The Senegal international has played 641 minutes from 22 matches in all competitions, scoring five goals and contributing an assist.

Bayern Munich unlikely to retain Chelsea man

Three months ago, Sport Witness covered claims from Germany that the Bundesliga side are unlikely to buy him for €65m.

The following month, former Senegal defender Ferdinand Coly urged the 24-year-old to finish this season at Bayern Munich.

He was confident of his compatriot attracting interest even if the Bavarian club decided against retaining the player.

Chelsea sanctioned his loan move when Enzo Maresca was in charge at Stamford Bridge. Liam Rosenior replaced the Italian in January and that is unlikely to have an impact on Jackson’s future at the west London club.

Rosenior’s side considering summer sale

If Bayern Munich don’t make his stay permanent, he has to go back to Chelsea. However, the report claims a return is ‘not part of his immediate plans’ and the Premier League side are also considering selling him in the summer.

This favours Diego Simeone’s side, who have been closely monitoring the former Villarreal man’s situation.

Los Rojiblancos are anticipating Julián Álvarez’s exit after this season and are looking at options in the market.

Wiw Sport state the Madrid club see the Chelsea owned player as a market opportunity, His ability to operate across multiple attacking positions also makes hm an interesting target for Atlético.

The outlet adds there are other teams, including ‘several English sides’ keeping an eye on Jackson. Their details, however, aren’t mentioned. A move to Turkey could also be an option for the Senegalese in the next window.

Therefore, Wiw Sport state ‘next summer could mark a turning point for the Lions’ striker, with several possibilities on the table.’

Atlético, for their part, are now focusing on the league clash against Espanyol and next week’s Champions League tie against Club Brugge. The first leg ended in a 3-3 draw in Belgium.
