Giants head coach John Harbaugh has hired former Ravens director of high performance to join his staff in New York

The New York Giants made one of the biggest moves of the offseason so far when they pounced on John Harbaugh and hired him to be their new head coach after he was surprisingly fired by the Baltimore Ravens. After enjoying a successful tenure with the Ravens, Harbaugh will now be tasked with getting the Giants back on track.

After getting hired, Harbaugh quickly worked on revamping his coaching staff, and unsurprisingly, he’s brought several folks with him from Baltimore to New York. On Friday, it was revealed that another key assistant coach, Sam Rosengarten, would also be joining Harbaugh in making the move from the Ravens to the Giants.

Giants Hire Sam Rosengarten to Be New Director of High Performance

Harbaugh worked as the Ravens’ head coach since 2008, so during that time, it’s safe to say that he came across quite a few different coaches during his time in charge of the team. Unsurprisingly, once Harbaugh took over as the Giants’ new leader, he looked to bring several of the guys he had worked with in Baltimore with him to New York.

The latest guy to join that crew is Rosengarten. For the past nine seasons, Rosengarten worked as the Ravens’ director of high performance, with the role tasking him to monitor players in their recovery protocols and injury processes. Not every team has this role on its staff, but it’s something Harbaugh valued greatly during his time in Baltimore.

Well, it shouldn’t come as much of a surprise that, even though he is now with the Giants, Harbaugh still values this role greatly. As a result, he’s decided to steal Rosengarten from the Ravens, as he was hired to fill the same director of high performance role on Harbaugh’s staff, with the only difference being he is now working for New York instead of Baltimore.

“Giants hired Sam Rosengarten as their director of high performance, a job he performed the last nine seasons for the Baltimore Ravens,” Adam Schefter of ESPN reported in a post on X.

Giants’ Offseason Work is Only Just Getting Started

Harbaugh enjoyed quite a bit of success with the Ravens, even though his time with the team came to a bit of a sour end. Considering how poorly things have gone in recent seasons for the Giants, though, they appear very open to seeing if his methods developed during his time in Baltimore will work in New York.

Ultimately, though, the most important piece of the offseason for the Giants will involve upgrading their roster, which is going to be easier said than done. New York has a solid core group it can build around, though, and Harbaugh seems primed to get the most out of this group as possible. Before he focuses on free agency, though, Harbaugh seems intent on inflicting as much pain as possible on the Ravens by continually stealing folks from their organization.
