Perkins believes Cunningham has already surpassed Luka Doncic in the top five of current NBA players, highlighting his ability to impact both ends of the court as the key difference separating the two.
"It's SGA, Giannis, Jokic, and guess who's right there next after them? Cade Cunningham," Perkins stated.
"You know why? Forget the 40-point game he dropped. It's the eight rebounds, it's the 13 assists, and Cade Cunningham plays both sides of the basketball," he added.
This season, Cunningham has firmly established himself as one of the league's elite, averaging 25.7 points, 5.7 rebounds, and 9.7 assists per game, leading the Pistons to the top seed in the Eastern Conference with a 41–13 record.
