For the former NBA veteran, the Dubs must finally wave the white flag, deactivate Stephen Curry for the remainder of the year, assess the pieces they have and prepare for a highly important offseason.
"Let’s be real. This Warriors team is not going anywhere," Perkins said. "Draymond Green, I don’t know where his mind is at, but it’s definitely not on the game of basketball. He looked horrible last night. Shut Stephen Curry down. Let those guys play it out. See what guys fit. See what guys are going.
"Right now, I would let the rest of the Warriors team outside of Steph play this season out and audition to see, one, if they want to be here, how they want to be here, about performing at a high level."
The Dubs are currently at No. 8 in the West with a 29-27 record.
Upon the season-ending ACL injury of Jimmy Butler, the Warriors' title chances have been tremendously altered already.
Currently, Stephen Curry is dealing with a "runner's knee" injury and will continue to miss significant time.
It remains to be seen how Golden State can maintain its spot or even climb in the competitive Conference standings, but Perkins stands steadfast that the Dubs must instead retool and refocus themselves for next season.
"But this offseason, because I’m saying shut Steph down, this offseason is going to be probably one of the most important offseasons of this franchise since Steph has been a part of it," Perkins said. "They need to go out.
"Mike Dunleavy has to do his job and make sure he goes and gets the pieces so that Steph has a legitimate shot coming into next year to compete for an NBA title."
