Still elite in Year 12, former Packers stud Davante Adams cracks PFF 101 rankings in Rams debut

Former Packers receiver Davante Adams is still that guy. In the red zone for the Los Angeles Rams last season, he was the guy despite sharing the field with Puka Nacua. His 14 receiving touchdowns led the league easily, despite the fact that Adams missed three games. He has only caught more touchdowns once: 18 in 2020 in Green Bay.

In the Rams’ NFC title bout against Seattle, Adams added one more.

It was a dominant campaign in what is supposed to be the twilight of Adams’ career. In his 12th season, his first with MVP Matthew Stafford in Los Angeles, the future Hall of Fame candidate earned himself a spot on the Top 101 rankings according to Pro Football Focus.

Adams still dominant at age 33

PFF penciled in Adams at No. 89, seventh among receivers. Nacua led the position at No. 2 overall.

“Adams operated as his team’s No. 2 wide receiver for the first time in several seasons, and he thrived in the role. His 84.8 PFF overall grade ranked ninth at his position, his highest mark since 2022. Adams led the league in receiving touchdowns (15), and quarterback Matthew Stafford generated a 106.8 passer rating when throwing his way, 19th among 80 qualifying wide receivers.”

Notably, Adams ranked ahead of Minnesota’s Justin Jefferson (91st), regarded as one of the NFL’s top targets. Jefferson finished 11th in receiving yards last season, while Adams compiled respectable but hardly spectacular 789 in 14 games.

He averaged his fewest yards per game since 2015 with the Packers, his sophomore year, but his impact went far beyond his raw receiving volume. For Stafford in the red zone, Adams served as a cheat code on fade routes and slants. The two quickly established a connection as though they had played together for years.

When he went out with a hamstring strain down the stretch, the offense sorely missed him. Even Nacua, amid PFF’s highest-graded season at receiver, wasn’t quite the same scoring threat (10 TDs in 16 games).

For the Rams, Adams was a godsend. For Adams, the chance to field throws from an elite passer was his first, really, since 2021, Rodgers’ last good season in Green Bay. With Stafford and Adams hooking up again next season, Los Angeles will count on another high-level showing from No. 17.
