Manchester United have the chance to bolster their ranks when the summer transfer window opens up for business
Manchester United are showing ‘strong interest’ in Wolves attacker Mateus Mane, according to CaughtOffside. The report adds that Liverpool and Arsenal are also keen on the Premier League prospect. His current club will face a battle to keep hold of him this summer amid attention from elsewhere.
The Red Devils are back in action on Monday evening with an away trip to Everton. They drew 1-1 against West Ham at the London Stadium last time out. Striker Benjamin Sesko scored a last-gasp goal against the Hammers down in London.
Manchester United keen on Wolves starlet Mateus Mane
United could see Mane as someone to boost their attacking department. If he joined them, he would give them more competition and depth at the top end of the pitch. At the age of 18, he has bags of potential and could be a useful long-term option at Old Trafford.
Mane, who is an England youth international, played in the North West at Rochdale from 2023 to 2024 before his switch to Wolves. He has since broken into the first-team at Molineux and is being tipped for a bright future in the game after his emergence in the Midlands. The Portugal-born man has made 10 appearances for Rob Edwards’ side this season and has chipped in with two goals.
The Red Devils will need to see off competition from elsewhere if they are to secure his signature though. Liverpool have also been mentioned as a potential suitor, as well as title hopefuls Arsenal. His contract expires in June 2029 so he still has a few years left to run down on his deal.
What now for Manchester United-linked Mateus Mane at Wolves?
Ex-United chief scout Mick Brown said during the January transfer window that the likes of Chelsea and Manchester City will be watching Mane at Wolves, as per Football Insider: “Mateus Mane playing the way he has for Wolves is certainty going to attract interest. Whenever an 18-year-old bursts onto the scene and puts in some impressive displays in the Premier League, it’s going to attract interest from the bigger clubs. You can bet the likes of Chelsea, Man City, those types of clubs will be looking at him.
“Almost every Premier League club will be looking at Wolves at the moment, assessing which players might be available when they eventually go down. Wolves then have to make the decision when they go down, will they be able to keep hold of their star players in the hope they can come back up? Or will they have to sell? It’s a decision they will have to make at the end of the season, but Mane looks a real prospect at his age, and I have no doubt these clubs will be aware.”
